vedic mathematics chapter subtraction

SUBTRACTION:

In vedic mathematics we can use complements will used and solve substraction, In the vedic mathematics one sutra is there "nikhilam navatascaramam dasatah"-"All from nine and last from ten"

Example: 834-357

step 1:

The first coloumn 3 the upper digit is smaller than 6 the lower digit. we go into complements. we take the difference of the two digits
7-4=3 (all from 9 last from 10)

complement of 3 is 7

from 10

834
357
---
  7
---

step 2:

again upper digit 3 is smaller than lower digit 5

difference between 3,5
5-3=2 (all from 9 last from 10)

complement of 2 is 7

from 9

834
357
---
 77
---

step 3:

ow, upper digit 8 is bigger than lower digit 3

difference between 8,3
8-3=5
again
5-1=4

834
357
---
477
---

Answer :

834-357=477

Examples:

1)658-486
2)962-253
3)7643-4869
